Every so often, it is possible to become weary with the ‘look’ of the interior of your house or maybe one room in particular. Updating a room need not cost you a fortune with simple changes and additions making for a whole new updated atmosphere to your home. Try these simple tips out in your house:

1.  The Walls.

Updating the colour of any room will immediately breathe new life into it. If budget doesn’t allow for a full re-paint, then consider just painting one wall or a focal point, for example the area over your fireplace. You can be adventurous with this colour as it won’t be covering the whole of the room but yet will add new depth to your wall. You could alternatively use wallpaper on a focal wall, picking up bargains on end of line rolls in interior shops.

2.   Accessories.

One of the best and inexpensive ways to update your home interior is to update or add accessories. You can budget a certain amount of money and go to markets, car boot sales, second stores, shop online and at supermarkets and come away with some fabulous troves.

Cheap photo frames are a fabulous option to updating your room. Purchase a selection of different sizes and types (wooden/metal) and arrange them in one area of the room. A really nice idea is to gather old black and white photographs, perhaps family heirlooms and put those in the different frames. Immediately you have a focal point in the room.

Budget Interior Design Tips

Other brilliant accessories are candles. There is such a wide variety available now online and on the high street that you can get almost any shade or hue to match your room. A good idea is to buy all different sizes and arrange them together to create another focal point, perhaps in the fireplace during summertime when it is not in use or on a bedroom locker.

3.    De-clutter and Clean.

This is one of the best places to start when you want to update the look of a room. You will be surprised what a thorough clean will do for a room. Think about buying an intensive carpet or floor cleaner to bring up the colour. Clear away all the items you don’t use in cabinets such as trophies and old books that are now just gathering dust.

4.   Add pictures.

If you have no picture hanging in a room you could think about purchasing one. Amazing art at very reasonable prices is now readily available but be sure to purchase one that complement the other colours in the room.

To update the interior design of any part of your home just requires patience and some creativity. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Look online for inspiration and create a ‘scrapbook’ of ideas from magazines and newspapers.
